Imagine when you get up in the morning you see a list on your mirror - a map of Habits of Mind.
(We made the above ππΌlist together in the session yesterday)
You randomly choose one of those, say for example - perseverance.
Now whatever happens in your and your child's day > you focus on perseverance.
You COLLECT.
You voice your thoughts aloud, "I wish I was more perseverant with the bargaining at the shop"
You spot it in the child's behaviour, "I saw how perseverant you were when you all friends were discussing after the football match whether it was a goal or not''.
You invite your child's thoughts via questions, "What would happen if Chota Bheem was not so perseverant in fighting with the dragon".
You IMAGINE, you PLAY.
You throw challenges at the child, "I am going to make you eat this - let's see who is more perseverant - you or I".
You wonder, If I tickle her when she is about to give up, will she consider persevering.
You put CONSTRAINTS (on yourself), like
Whenever she misbehaves, I will look for perseverance
Whenever I feel a certain emotion, I will persevere to LOL (laugh out loud)
But most importantly, any which ways, You live to explore perseverance, just for a day.
Imagine the next day when you wake up, you choose another one from YOUR map of habits of mind.
And this daily diet of exploration is the way you and child together enjoy collecting, playing and creating understanding about each habit of mind that you and your child can think of and value.
